Privacy statement

What we do with your data when you search for a room with us, in plain words.

Who we are

Coliving Amsterdam is a renter's agent for rooms in shared houses in Amsterdam. We are the controller for the personal data described here.

[Company name], Herengracht 142, Amsterdam. KvK [KVK NUMBER]. Email: [EMAIL ADDRESS].

What we collect

When you start a search, we receive what you fill in:

  • Your first name and email address
  • The neighbourhoods, budget, move-in month and length of stay you choose
  • Anything you write in the note
  • The language you use the site in

When you email us, we keep that conversation. When we find you a room, we also keep what is needed to arrange viewings and the contract, and to invoice our fee.

Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data such as your IP address in server logs, to keep the site running and secure.

Why we use it

  • To search for a room for you, send you matches and arrange viewings. This is needed to do what you ask of us.
  • To answer your questions.
  • To invoice our fee and keep our books, because the law requires it.
  • To keep the site secure and stop spam, which is in our legitimate interest.

We never sell your data, and we only share your details with a landlord after asking you first.

Who helps us

A few companies process data on our behalf, under a processing agreement:

  • Vercel hosts this website, protects the sign-up form against bots and counts visits and page speed without cookies.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Sentry tells us when something on the site breaks. Error reports leave out your name, email and anything you filled in.

All three are based in the United States. Transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your search details for [retention period] after your search ends, then delete them.

Invoices and the data on them are kept for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.

Cookies

We use one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, to remember whether you read the site in English or Dutch. It is needed for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data, to limit how we use it, or to send it to you or someone else. You can also object to how we use it. Email us and we answer within one month.

Complaints

Not happy with how we handle your data? Tell us first, so we can fix it. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

When we change this statement, we update the date at the top. If a change matters for you, we tell you by email.
