What to arrange before and after you move into your room.

Before you move
- Read and sign your rental contract, and keep a copy
- Check whether you can register at the address
- Make an appointment with the municipality if you are new to the Netherlands
- Plan how you get your things there
In your first week
- Register at your address within five days
- Collect your citizen service number (BSN) if you are new to the Netherlands
- Take photos of the room and anything damaged, and send them to your landlord
- Meet your housemates and ask about the house rules
In your first month
- Open a Dutch bank account if you need one
- Take out Dutch health insurance if you live or work here
- Check whether you are entitled to benefits, such as healthcare allowance
- Get a bike
